What is the role of culture and identity in successful youth enterprises? This session engages the audiences with three examples of Midwestern U.S. organizations that center on positive youth identity. To increase youth social mobility and financial opportunity. Developmental theory will be shared to explain the healthy growth of young people who are at the helm of these social enterprises, which include ethnic culture and local environmental sustainability at their core. Youth experience in these leadership roles is a vital piece of the opportunity puzzle in the American urban setting. Attendees will consider what identity aspects of their roles can be better valued and leveraged toward success within their ventures.
