Empowering Youth in South Africa's Green Economy: Opportunities, Barriers, and Quick Wins
Lutho Mbonambi is a Systems Change Specialist at Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, dedicated to dismantling systemic barriers that prevent young people from accessing learning and earning opportunities. After obtaining her Master’s degree in Economic Development, Lutho began her career in management consulting at a leading economic advisory firm in Africa. Her expertise spans strategy development, research, and monitoring and evaluation, primarily within the development sector, tackling global challenges related to climate change, decent work, and gender equality. Lutho also has personal entrepreneurship experience within the South African digital and township economies. She has been an owner-operator of a bridal fashion digital tech start-up and served as an assistant general manager at a township butchery and grill in Inanda, Durban. In recognition of her work, Lutho was selected as an LGT Venture Philanthropy Impact Fellow in 2022. The Fellowship Program engages experienced business professionals globally to leverage their skills in creating a positive impact with leading companies and organizations around the world.
