María Mercedes Ramírez Casariego holds a degree in International Relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, a Master's degree in Human Rights and Democracy from FLACSO - Mexico; and a second Master's degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from Sciences Po. With more than a decade of professional experience, she focuses on access to justice, violence prevention, addressing structural vulnerability, and responding to human rights violations in Mexico. Currently a Human Rights Project Specialist at RED-DH, she works to strengthen the capacities of government and civil society organizations to address torture and enforced disappearances. Mercedes emphasizes a cross-sectional perspective, focusing on the unique needs of diverse groups such as women, LGBTQIA+, indigenous communities and youth; to promote equal opportunity by addressing the entrenched disadvantages experienced by these populations.
